Following successes has seen the company diversifying its operations into the catering industry, having secured a contract to provide meals for 500 resident students at UAE University in Al Ain.
Since that time, we have expanded into more sectors such as transportation, tourism, duty-free, in-flight catering, cleaning and maintenance, but the flagship remains our hotels division which has now grown to be the key player in the hospitality sector in Abu Dhabi.
The company currently owns and manages four 5-star hotels in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain and operates a further two on behalf of the Government, and has AL DIAR division with nine executive hotels. ADNH is redeveloping the new Gulf Hotel property into a new waterfront resort in Abu Dhabi. ADNH also has additional overseas properties in Egypt and Morocco.
The catering division, too, has grown during the past two decades, with an operation now that extends from the provision of millions of meals annually to educational institutions, defense and civilian hospitals, onshore and offshore accommodations camps and platforms associated with the petroleum and gas industry, and islands in the Arabian Gulf through to in-flight catering at two international airports and services at clubs and leisure centres, and many more.
In addition, ADNH also provides cleaning services at airports, hotels and other establishments. It manages the award-winning duty-free complex at Abu Dhabi International Airport and sister operations in Al Ain - and backing it all up is our dedicated recruitment and training division providing support to all the myriad operations of the Company.
Just over a decade ago, we took a pioneering step by launching a tourism division - Sunshine Tours aiming to provide the highest standards of ground-based tourism services in the Emirates, simultaneously setting up, Al Ghazal Transportation, a liveried taxi and chauffeur driven service.
ADNH is focused on its upcoming projects .We are investing in a five star destination resort on Saadiyat Island, the natural island lying 500 meters offshore from UAE capital city. The resort will boast a 400,000 square feet hotel with around 400 rooms and will be managed by an international hotel operator. We expect construction to begin in the first quarter of next year with the resort opening in the second quarter of 2009.
In addition; ADNH decided to expand its portfolio into the emirate of Dubai. The Sofitel Jumeriah Beach Residence is another project which consists of a 30-storey hotel tower rising from a 4-storey podium comprising of a total of 450 rooms.
The new Gulf Hotel Resort will position itself first and foremost as a resort, but also aim to appeal to corporate travelers through its range of modern business facilities. The project is due for completion in mid 2008.
As part of its expansion plans to make use of emerging opportunities, ADNH, represented by Sunshine Tours, signed recently an agreement with Travco, a leading travel group based in Egypt, to set up new joint venture named “ADNH Travco”. ADNH Travco will develop new travel, tourism and hospitality related projects in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, and expand into other regions. The new company will also organize tours in the UAE and the Middle East.
